Temporary Listening Structure, 2008 installation view Built to resemble a temporary traffic
sign, "Temporary Listening Structure" is a site-specific installation
located on a median strip that amplifies live ambient sound. By sitting
on the bench provided and positioning one's head in the center of the
parabolic sign, one can experience a shift in the aural spectrum. Subtle
sounds such as grass swishing are emphasized and may sound as loud as
a passing truck.
